iPalmDesert.com Logo Design

I did this as a favor for a friend and co-worker, who owns this domain name. I actually finished this last week, but didn’t want to post about it until I got final approval from him. Since I was doing it for very little compensation, I tried to keep the overall design pretty simple. I used a palm leaf I found on all-silhouettes.com, and then modified it to get the look I wanted. He seemed pretty pleased with it. Below is a second concept, but it wasn’t coming out like I had in mind, so, even though I showed him both, I suggested that he go with the first.

 

New iStock Upload: Zombies!

I just got another iStock upload accepted today. I guess I was still in the mood to draw zombies from the t-shirt concept I worked up for AtomicMoo.com. I even have a few sketches I haven’t vectored yet, so hopefully I’ll have another set of these up soon.

Atomic Moo Shirt Design

I thought a good way to begin working tonight on this site would be to start with a post of my most recent project. This was a t-shirt concept I worked up for a blog I run, AtomicMoo.com. The idea came from a series of comments on one of my posts. I thought I’d run with it and see what happens. I think the part I liked best on this was working on the type. The font I used as a guide was Sans Serif Extra Bold Condensed. I then took some brushes I made and built the letter forms with their shapes. The zombies were also pretty fun to draw. I used some stock photos I found on DeviantArt.com as model references, and drew them up in my sketch book and tried to play with the poses and stylization a bit. To save time, I just left them as silhouettes.

After it was completed, I wasn’t sure what to do with it. I wish I had the money to have these screen printed, but I don’t. So I decided to try Zazzle.com. I still have to work on setting up the store, but here’s a link to what I have so far. I’m not sure about the whole digital print on demand stuff; I’m not sure about the quality. I did order a print of the shirt to see what it would look like, but it’ll be a few days until I get it. That also brought up another issue: the price. For a digital print on an American Apparel shirt, where I did all the design work, I feel they’re charging way too much. I need to see what I can do to bring that down, or maybe find something else.

Getting Back on Track.

I haven’t done anything with this site for awhile now, but the other day I decided it was time to get it all straightened out. I got a new theme for it on Sunday. It’s called Dandelion by Pexeto. I picked it up from Themeforest for a decent price. Seems alright so far, though I’m still going through and trying to figure it all out. There’s still a lot to do on here. The front page is a mess, and I have to upload my portfolio. Once I get all the content on here that I need, I’ll do what I can to stylize it to how I want it to look. There’s some other stuff I was just thinking that I need to do, like set up the categories for one. I’m hoping by the end of this weekend I can get it all done.

New iStock Vector Upload

My site is still a mess, but I’m hoping to put in some time this weekend on it. I just had another upload accepted on iStock.com. So there’s some good news. This one was based on some quick drawings out of my sketch book. It’s kind of tough trying to manage my time right now. I want to build up my iStock portfolio, but then I also want to see if I can develop Atomic Moo into something of value… that and I’m starting to really like blogging. It’s kind of fun to geek out about subjects you’re really interested in. Also, I want to do more illustrations to try and build some real skill in it. Anyhow, hopefully I’ll have more work to share soon.

I think I’m getting this…

Okay… I think I’m starting to get this. I’m going to try and get all my content on here, then I’ll screw with the theme to see if I can get the look I want. Sounds like a plan… for tomorrow. I’m going to bed.

Frustrated…

I’m still trying to figure out how to customize this new theme. Hopefully soon I’ll get it all figured out.

Lately I’ve been busy on another project that’s kept me away from putting this site together. Hopefully soon I’ll be able to get back to this and make this site look how I want it to.
