New iStock Upload

Vector Hibiscus

I just had another vector upload approved on iStock. This time I took and image of a hibiscus flower, and tried to do a clean trace over on it. Check out the rest of my iStock portfolio here.

New iStock Upload

Vector Sunflower

Actually there’s been a few new uploads I’ve made lately, I just kind of liked this one. I tried to make it look like more of a line drawing; it was kind of a pain, but I think it came out looking okay.

Two New iStock Uploads

Vector Pelican

Here are two new vector uploads that just got accepted on iStock. The image of the pelican was traced over a photo I took while at the Oceanside pier (only the wood planks were live traced).

Zombie

The zombie vector was from a sketch I did a little while ago. My brother actually helped me out a lot on this one. There’s still two more sketches that need to be worked up. Hopefully we’ll get to them soon.

iStock Vector Upload: Dead Crow

Dead Crow

I worked this up yesterday. It’s based off a photo a took while on a walk. I know it’s kind of morbid, but I thought it would make for an interesting illustration.

Thai Fighter

Thai Fighter

This was a quick vector trace over job that I did recently for NKTSport, a company that sells kickboxing gear. Below is the original image they sent me, and above is what I did. It was a pleasure working with them.

New iStock Upload: Zombies!

Zombie Silhouettes

I just got another iStock upload accepted today. I guess I was still in the mood to draw zombies from the t-shirt concept I worked up for AtomicMoo.com. I even have a few sketches I haven’t vectored yet, so hopefully I’ll have another set of these up soon.

Atomic Moo Shirt Design

Zombies&Lemons

I thought a good way to begin working tonight on this site would be to start with a post of my most recent project. This was a t-shirt concept I worked up for a blog I run, AtomicMoo.com. The idea came from a series of comments on one of my posts. I thought I’d run with it and see what happens. I think the part I liked best on this was working on the type. The font I used as a guide was Sans Serif Extra Bold Condensed. I then took some brushes I made and built the letter forms with their shapes. The zombies were also pretty fun to draw. I used some stock photos I found on DeviantArt.com as model references, and drew them up in my sketch book and tried to play with the poses and stylization a bit. To save time, I just left them as silhouettes.

After it was completed, I wasn’t sure what to do with it. I wish I had the money to have these screen printed, but I don’t. So I decided to try Zazzle.com. I still have to work on setting up the store, but here’s a link to what I have so far. I’m not sure about the whole digital print on demand stuff; I’m not sure about the quality. I did order a print of the shirt to see what it would look like, but it’ll be a few days until I get it. That also brought up another issue: the price. For a digital print on an American Apparel shirt, where I did all the design work, I feel they’re charging way too much. I need to see what I can do to bring that down, or maybe find something else.

Here’s some images of what it should look like on a shirt. Here’s hoping it turns out alright.
