Logo & Identity

This was my submitted concept for the Worth1000.com contest to design a logo for the Isle of Man Business Centre. Up until then, I had never even heard of the Isle of Man (it’s an island between Ireland and England). I also didn’t know they spelled center “centre.” Here’s a description from the contest brief:

In this free contest, your task is to design a logo for the Isle of Man Business Centre, a premium office site dedicated to providing state-of-the-art business facilities within the heart of the financial and business centre on the Isle of Man.

The design will appear on all marketing materials for the Business Centre (i.e. business cards, website, letterhead, newsletters, etc..), also all internal branding within the centre (i.e. office partitions and door glass) and as external signage approximately five meters from ground level.

My idea was to do something using “building blocks” with layered transparencies that formed the shape of the island. For the one color version I used the outline strokes of the blocks.
