Quicktake Logo Concept

This was my entry for the Worth1000.com logo contest to design a logo for QuickTake. Here’s the description for the contest:

In this free contest, your task is to design a logo for QuickTake, a web site featuring temporary use of non-downloadable software that enables customers to conduct market research on a self-serve basis which provides users the ability to customize surveys and test consumer reactions relating to matters such as ideas, products, concepts, packaging, political issues and current events (think of Survey Monkey, Wufoo and AskYourTargetMarket).

Like with all logos I design, I try to make sure it works just as well in one color as it would in two or three. I also try to make sure the logo is readable at an inch high; something I picked up at Utah State.

I thought using a butterfly was a good way to represent development and independence. Below was my second entry based on a similar concept for the first.

Game Day Grill Logo Concepts

This was a logo concept for a sports bar called “Game Day Grill.” The first concept I tried to keep as a simple logotype that reflected the attributes the client gave me in out initial meeting. The client also asked to see a version with a stadium that also served as a grill.

Boulder.com Logo Concept

This is a concept I worked up for Boulder.com. Although it’s the concept I liked the best (and told both my employer and the client that out of any of the concepts I worked up, this is the one I would add to my portfolio), it was rejected. I still like it…

Biologies.com Logo

This is a logo I designed for eWorldWideWeb, inc. I was give very little information about this domain, and not much time to design it. Still, even with those challenges, I like the final design and concept of this logo.

Evologic.com Logo

Another logo I did for eWorldWideWeb, inc. where I was given very little information about this domain, and what it represented. Still, I liked the out come of this design.

Initials Logo Using a Figure-Ground Relationship

This was for a brand identity class I took while I attended Utah State University, in 2006. The assignment was to design a logo using our own initials, but in a figure-ground relationship.

Restaurant Logo Project

This was an assignment for one of the graphic design courses I took while at Utah State University, back in 2005. The assignment was to design a logotype for a restaurant, and it was left up to us to choose the name we were designing for. My concept was for a restaurant called “Abattoir,” which means slaughter house. I thought that would be a good name for a gothic-themed steak house. I imagined it would be a place where people ate at think wooden tables, drank from large beer steins, and the menu would be nothing but meat that would be roasting in a large fire pit in the center of the place. If I had the money, I would definitely open a place like that.

This was the first time I ever designed a logotype, but I always liked the way it came out, and so I keep it in my portfolio.
